Supporting a culturally vibrant downtown

The Montpelier Chamber Orchestra is committed to elevating contemporary and classical music through intimate performances, outreach, and connecting the community around music. The Covid 19 pandemic and the 2023 flooding event had a profound impact on Montpelier’s downtown and it’s vibrant musical community. MCO strives to be at the center of reviving that dynamism, through energetic, relevant programming.

Our Ensemble

The orchestra engages 30 to 60 volunteer musicians for each concert series who are advanced amateurs or professionals.

Our Commitment

Montpelier Chamber Orchestra, established in 1992, performs two concert programs each year as a full chamber orchestra: one in the spring and one in the fall. In addition, we endeavor to participate in and create “community engagement projects,” with the explicit goal of enhancing the vibrancy of the arts in our community.

Our Community

MCO serves Montpelier and surrounding towns and communities, with roughly 70% of our audiences living within a 10-mile radius. Due to our unusual programming for a community orchestra, we also routinely draw performers, soloists, and concert audiences from across the state.
